Wonderful News! LWCA Gold Award Winner 2019!

LITTLE WOODHOUSE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION – WINNER OF 1ST PRIZE FOR LEEDS CIVIC TRUST SNAITH AWARD 2019

THE SNAITH AWARD for AFFILIATED SOCIETIES

Little Woodhouse Community Association (LWCA) are affiliated to Leeds Civic Trust.    We became aware of the Snaith Award,  which is  an annual award for projects completed by one of Leeds Civic Trust’s Affiliated Societies.  These have to have been  completed in the previous 12 months up to the end of August, carried out or initiated locally by the society and resulting in an enhancement, or enhanced understanding of the built or natural environment. There are three awards available;

  • Gold Award £500
  • Silver Award £300
  • Bronze Award £200

The LWCA committee decided to submit our ‘Graffiti Project’ to Leeds Civic Trust as we felt this definitely ‘enhanced the built environment’.  This project was instigated by Garance and through all her hard work and determination, came to fruition. Moreover, on November 25th, 2019, we learned that LWCA had been awarded the 1st Prize, the Gold Award of £500! The plan is for the money to be used to replenish the Graffiti kits and also to perhaps provide an alternative outlet for street artists;  a mural rather than tagging.   It is nice to be recognised in this way.  The graffiti project has made a positive contribution to the LWCA area. Many thanks and heartfelt congratulations to Garance for all her hard work with the Graffiti Project.
